Limalama is an American / Polynesian system of martial arts and means, "The Hand of Wisdom." It is unique in the martial arts world in that students do not bow, believing that to be an honor for God only. Instead, students show respect by way of a salutation.
Known as a logical and sophisticated method of self-defense, hands are primarily used and kicks are restricted to the waist and lower. |
Beginners (White & Yellow belts) Students will learn the foundation for all of Limalama, including: basic stances, punches, kicks & blocks. Leg maneuvers will be taught with emphasis on techniques, series and sets.
Intermediate (Purple, Blue & Green belts) Students are invited to stay for the 2nd class at no additional charge. Advanced stances, punches, kicks, blocks and more complex leg maneuvers will be taught. "Flowing" is emphasized rather than robotic movements.
Advanced (Brown & Black belts) Students are expected to help teach the beginner and intermediate ranks. Over 100 hours of teaching time is required for Black Belt. Creating their own series and making it their own unique style is expected. |
